More about the show and company

Cold Open Productions is a multidisciplinary arts company founded by Sanskruti Marathe, an Indian Canadian artist. The company is dedicated to reimagining storytelling by blending South Asian artistic traditions with contemporary performance techniques, creating holistic and immersive narratives that engage diverse audiences.

Land acknowledgement

At Cold Open Productions, we are deeply grateful to create and share stories on the land we now call Brampton—land that has been home to generations of Indigenous Peoples including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat, and continues to be home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.

As an immigrant kid who arrived here with big dreams and a heart full of stories, this land welcomed me, shaped me, and helped me grow into the artist I am today. I carry that gratitude into everything I create.

This land holds deep wisdom, memory, and tradition. We honour those truths and recognize our responsibility as storytellers—especially those of us from diasporic communities—to listen, to learn, and to show up with care and respect. We’re committed to continuing this work in solidarity through art that bridges cultures and brings people together.

Sensory description

At the End of Kaliyuga is a visually rich and movement-based performance featuring vibrant Indian classical dance costumes paired with a playful clown nose, creating a unique blend of tradition and whimsy. The stage is illuminated by dynamic projections of galaxies and cosmic landscapes, immersing the audience in an otherworldly atmosphere. The soundscape is composed primarily of Indian classical instruments such as the sitar and veena, creating a meditative and evocative auditory experience. Along with dialogue the show is driven by expressive movement and gesture, making it accessible and enjoyable for audiences who are Deaf or hard of hearing. While the visual elements enhance the experience, the strong use of music and physical storytelling also allows the show to be appreciated by blind or vision-impaired audiences.
