Elmer Rice’s 1923 The Adding Machine gets a bold, electrifying revival in this new adaptation by director Alice Fox Lundy and dramaturg Guillermo Verdecchia. This expressionist classic blends satire, and razor-sharp social commentary to expose the absurdity of our dehumanizing, mechanized world.
Mr. Zero is a nobody—just another cog in the corporate machine. But when he’s fired and replaced by an adding machine, his world unravels into a surreal, existential nightmare. How much is a life really worth in a system that only values efficiency?
This show will leave you laughing, questioning, and maybe just a little unnerved.
