COVID-19's Impact on Fringe Applications
If you are waiting for information regarding Lottery or Site-Specific applications for the 2021 Toronto Fringe Festival, we thank you for your patience.
It's going to take us a little longer than usual to sort out the details of the 2021 Fringe. When we had to cancel the in-person festival this past summer, we immediately offered the companies slated to be in the 2020 festival a deferral to 2021. Given that, it is highly unlikely that there will be a lottery held this year. The site-specific category is likewise limited and may not open to new applications.
Regarding the Play Contests:
We can now confirm (October 5, 2020) that we will not be holding our New Play Contest or the Adams Prize for Musical Theatre in fall 2020 for the 2021 Fringe Festival. Participants from the 2020 festival have deferred their slots to 2021 and will get a chance to produce their work this coming year. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The 24 Hour Playwriting Contest will be going ahead in 2021 thanks to a generous donation from former Executive Director, Gideon Arthurs, in memory of his mother, Penny Arthurs. Learn more.
For now, we are keeping the majority of our applications pages open and transparent - so that you have useful information for the future. If you have any specific questions, please contact us any time at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are striving to confirm and have more information available soon on this webpage. As always, stay connected to learn about other ways you can be involved with Fringe in 2021.
