How To Fringe

With so many shows to choose from, getting started can be more than a little daunting. The Fringe Festival program, hopefully dog-eared and well loved by the end of the Festival, is your guide to getting the most out of your Fringe days. To get you going, here are a few pointers…

Information is key.

To get current information, check out www.fringetoronto.com for Fringe updates, and www.eyeweekly.com for play reviews and a chance to comment on plays you’ve seen.

When in doubt, ask!

If you’re on site, drop by the info tent at the Fringe Club. Or ask any of our 400 volunteers! You can also call the Fringe Hotline (416) 966-1062 (10am-8pm).

Know your Neighbourhood.

Once you’ve created your list of plays to attend, check our venue map to find the location of the theatres. There’s limited parking around many Fringe sites, so we suggest you use public transit, cycle or walk. Give yourself plenty of time - there are absolutely no latecomers admitted to shows. Prepare for the best. If you’re planning on putting in a full day of Fringing, it’s good to come equipped.

Here are some things you may find useful: Bottled water is available at venues 1-11. Beer and snacks are also available at the Factory and Tarragon patios. The Fringe Club offers a wide range of food and beverage service as well as is the home to our McAuslan Beer Tent! Come by for specials on drinks, food, and free live entertainment!

Hear and be heard…

Part of the fun of the Fringe is finding out what plays other patrons are enjoying and passing on tips about the plays you’ve seen. So the next time you’re standing in line, say “Hi” to the person next to you and compare notes. Or go to www.eyeweekly.com and post your own review online. To let us know how we’re doing, fill out a survey at any Fringe venue.

Show your appreciation.

If you have a really good time at the Fringe, we would appreciate your support when our friendly House Managers ask you to “Tip the Fringe”.
